Mark Newman - Founder, Actor, Writer, Director

Mark graduated from Chester College in 1990 with a BA in English and Theatre Studies. He then worked for several years at The Gateway Theatre, where he was able to learn from many of the professional Directors he met there. He has been a fixture on the local theatre scene for nearly 30 years, and has performed in and directed numerous productions for both Tip Top Productions and Chester Little Theatre, including many of their most successful and fondly remembered ones. He and Stuart first worked together over 25 years ago in Bouncers, which was a huge hit for Tip Top.

Mark has written four full length plays. His plays ‘Mr Dumpling’ and ‘Frank’ have both been performed successfully by Against the Grain, and he’s looking forward to sharing more new work with AtG’s audience in the near future and continuing to contribute to producing high quality theatre.
